How to Care for and Store Your Pool Equipment

Care makes your gear last

Quality pool accessories are an investment — and with a little care they’ll stay reliable for years, even in India’s sun, heat, and monsoon. Here’s how to look after them.

Rinse tools after use

Pool chemicals and debris wear down tools over time. Rinse nets, brushes, poles, and vacuum heads with fresh water after use to keep them in good shape.

Dry before storing

Store tools dry to prevent rust and mildew. Let metal parts dry fully, and don’t leave nets and brushes wet and bunched up.

Keep out of harsh sun

Strong UV degrades plastics and fades materials over time. Store accessories in the shade or a shed when not in use, rather than leaving them baking poolside.

Care for your test kit and chemicals

  • Store test strips and reagents in a cool, dry place, tightly closed, and check expiry dates.
  • Keep chemicals sealed, dry, away from sunlight, and out of children’s reach.
  • Never store incompatible chemicals together.

Maintain the pump and filter

  • Clean or backwash the filter regularly for good flow.
  • Clear the pump basket of debris.
  • Follow the maker’s maintenance guidance for electrical equipment.

Look after poles and nets

Check telescopic poles for grit in the joints, rinse and dry them, and store extended-but-secured or as advised. Replace torn nets promptly so debris doesn’t escape.

Prepare for the off-season / monsoon

If the pool’s not in use for a while, clean and store accessories properly, cover the pool, and follow off-season care for water and equipment.

Store everything together

Keep your accessories organised in a dry storage area or caddy, so they’re protected and easy to find when you need them.
